Well, we have been here a week and I am finally checking out the writing scene here in Perth. There does actually seem to be a lot going on for the 'most isolated city in the world' and I came across a couple of things to share with you (if you're unpublished):
- Worldwide competition run by a Devon publishing company! How did I have to go half way round the world to discover this? Not long left on this though...
- UK publisher accepting submissions... They had an ad in 'Good Reading' magazine, a nationally published Australian magazine here. Looks like they accept submissions for most genres.
- International competition for poetry and shorts. Run by Aesthetica magazine.
Please update me with any news - I'm dying to hear how all those submissions are going...

Gabby,
Hope your settling in well. Nice to see you've not forgotten us too! Hope things are settling down, have you got your stuff yet?

This is the way to do it - we send you to the other side of the world so you can spot openings in the UK . . . glad you are settling in and have already turned your thoughts to writing. Submissions? Don't ask. Going badly of course. What's wrong with people? They just don't recognise good writing when it's under their noses do they.
